The Hall of the Great Council, built between 1340 and 1355, was the seat of the lower house of the Venetian Parliament. This room had to accommodate as many as 1800 citizens entitled to vote. Tintoretto’s Paradise is the highlight of this room, which fills the entire wall.
In 1577, a fire damaged it together with the Sala dello Scrutinio, this is why now it is decorated with paintings by Tintoretto, Palma il Giovane, and Paolo Veronese.
