MIle High City's annual summer chalk art festival, held over the last weekend around Larimar Square, downtown Denver
Also known as Piazza dell'Arte ("square of art"), 14th street between Market and Lawrence transforms into a canvas for these artists over a 2 day festival
These artists use color pastels, chalk to create color, depth and shadows around the outlines on 14th Street
The art doesn't last long, but that doesn't stop the artists to create intricate and fun artwork for display on a blank asphalt canvas - even if it is for just a couple of days
The artist first draws an outline of the original painting using charcoal pastel or pencil in proper proportion
Once the outline is drawn, the artists then begin to lay the base of colors
More than 200 artists participate in the Denver Art Festival
